The Firsts and Lasts of Lew Cady

Studio Pattern took a field trip on Friday, Jan 7, 2011 to be among the first people to try the brand new Hickenlooper’s Inaugurale at the Wynkoop. After spending many hours designing the logo for this dark beauty, we had to give it a taste.

Amy may have been the first person to drink this beer after biking to the Wynkoop from over two miles away. But she has nothing on Lew Cady, a man of many firsts, who enjoyed the very first pint of the newly released, limited-edition beer (after waiting in line with 20 other enthusiasts.)

What to Look for at a Press Check

Welcome to the second installment of the “things you probably didn’t learn in graphic design school” series. This post will cover what to look for when you go to the print house to check the quality of the piece. The press check is the last line of defense against a flawed print job that has to be trashed. Hopefully, if you paid attention to this post on the prepress process, your document was flawless as far as you knew. Do comment if there’s another topic you’d like to see up here. Once we officially launch, we should be providing new content more frequently on a range of design, illustration, typography, and print-related topics.
