The First Can
We recently supervised the first print run of Silverback Pale Ale cans. With a six-color job being printed in the round on aluminum, there was a lot to supervise. We went through several rounds with the nice people at Ball, watching for the intensity of the colors, their evenness around the can, their registration to one another, and the overall “pop” of the combination. As you can tell from Mark’s delicate grip on the can in the photo, they were very wet when we were proofing them, and went through a final drying process at the very end. Also, you can see that the top of the can is straight; obviously it gets crimped after printing. It’s not until the cans get back to the Wynkoop Brewing Company and are filled that the tops get sealed on.
